Max Craven’s professional performing debut will happen alongside Broadway stars — even if he won’t literally be next to them.

“The fact that I can say I’ve been in a show with Billy Porter or Megan Hilty is just like the cherry on top I never thought I’d get,” he said.

Craven will dance in the online Brave Hearts for Broadway concert, Let Us Entertain You, on Wednesday. The organization brings together front line health care workers and professional performers of different disciplines to support The Actors Fund, which provides assistance to theatre professionals. The show will feature Broadway stars like Megan Hilty, Brian Gallagher, Lorna Luft, and the Tony Award-winning Billy Porter.

Craven, a professional dancer from Saskatoon, has never forgotten his roots. As a student at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City, he always had to introduce himself with his name and where he’s from — so most of his colleagues were baffled by the strange name of his hometown, he said. He’s even got a wheat tattoo on his ankle.
