SaskTel will spend more than $70 million to construct new cell towers serving rural Saskatchewan.
The provincial government highlighted the plan in a media release on Wednesday, noting the Crown corporation has committed to build 74 new towers at a cost of $72.2 million.
Minister Responsible for SaskTel Don Morgan said the latest round of new towers will form the final phase of the Wireless Saskatchewan initiative announced in 2017.
The new towers are expected to be complete by next summer. The province’s release stated SaskTel’s network will include about 1,000 cell towers across Saskatchewan once the project is finished.
