One of Canada’s top musical acts of the past two decades has sold out her return to Saskatoon — though Chantal Kreviazuk’s concert next month will have a different feel than previous stops.

In order to ensure physical distancing at the Oct. 4 concert at TCU Place, only 120 tickets were made available and sold out almost instantly on Thursday. Capacity for TCU Place’s Sid Buckwold Theatre is 2,074.

The concert will be the first major show to take place at TCU Place since the COVID-19 pandemic hit in March and forced the cancellation of dozens of events.

“Our team has worked extremely hard to exceed provincial guidelines for gatherings, and we are ready to open our doors safely,” TCU Place chief operating officer Tammy Sweeney said in a statement.

Kreviazuk is a platinum-selling, three-time Juno Award-winner. Best known as a performer for such hits as Before You, Dear Life, Surrounded and her cover of Leaving on a Jet Plane, the Order of Canada recipient has also written for megastars such as Drake, Britney Spears, Kendrick Lamar and more. Her latest album — Get To You — was released this summer

“It’s been a long six months, and we are absolutely thrilled to welcome Chantal to our community,” Sweeney said. “She is an iconic artist — perfect to invite people back to experience TCU Place once again.”
