INDIGENOUS GAMES POSTPONED

Saskatchewan athletes training for the North American Indigenous Games must wait another year to compete.

The Games were set for July 12-18 in Halifax, but organizers are working to host the event there in 2021 instead.

The age limit for an athlete to compete at NAIG is 19 years old during the calendar year of competition.

Fiona Kirkpatrick Parsons, chair of the Games, said athletes who will turn 20 next year will still get a chance to compete.

Box lacrosse player Annakah Ratt, who is from Prince Albert and a member of the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation, said she’s not sure how her team will handle the delay.
