The discovery of human remains at a home in Saskatoon’s Riversdale neighbourhood on Tuesday evening has prompted the city’s 11th homicide investigation of 2020.
Investigators from the city police missing persons unit and major crime section received information that a person who was either injured or dead may be in a home in the 400 block of Avenue G South, police said in a media release on Wednesday.
Patrol officers and members of the guns and gangs and forensic investigations units went to the home around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, where they found human remains.
Police are working to identify the remains and an autopsy has been scheduled for Friday.
On Wednesday afternoon, investigators were entering and exiting the house, which appeared to have sustained significant damage from a fire at some point.
The provincial coroner’s service is investigating alongside police.
Police are asking anyone with information to call them or Crime Stoppers.
