RCMP respond to two fatal collisions overnight

Saskatchewan RCMP responded to two fatal collisions in the early hours of Saturday.

The first collision occurred approximately 15 kilometres south of Stanley Mission on Highway 915 just before 4 a.m.

According to an RCMP news release, officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a single vehicle collision. RCMP say there were five people travelling in the vehicle, four of which were transported to hospital with unknown injuries. The fifth passenger, a 36-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation with help from a collision reconstructionist is underway.

The second collision occurred around 5:45 a.m. when a pickup truck rolled over on Whitesand Drive near the community of Canora.

When officers arrived at the scene of the single vehicle collision they discovered the 22-year-old Norquay, Sask. man driving the vehicle had died.

RCMP said they will not be releasing the names of either victim.
