Two men are facing a number of charges, including abduction and assault, after three children were taken from their mother’s home in Unity on Tuesday.
The children were ultimately located “safe” in Maidstone that same day, according to RCMP.
Officers from the Unity detachment were called to a residence on Tuesday around 5 p.m. after a complaint of an assault and possible parental abduction, RCMP said in a news release.
RCMP say officers arrived on scene and learned the children’s father had taken the children and left in a truck with his brother.
“Due to details learned during the course of investigation, officers were concerned for the safety of the children. Several surrounding detachments were notified of the abduction and were given a description of the vehicle involved,” RCMP said.
Saskatchewan RCMP began the process of issuing an Amber Alert but, as that was happening, officers located and stopped the truck being sought along Highway 4, south of Kyle. Two men, who RCMP identified as the father and brother of the children, were arrested on scene.
The children were found at a Maidstone residence with a woman.
RCMP say the two men are facing charges including break and enter, uttering threats, assault, possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose and abduction. They are scheduled to make their first appearance in Swift Current provincial court on Aug. 6.
